Mission Alabama

Commissioner Frank A. Woodson - Executive Director

Picture
After nearly twenty years with United Parcel Service, Commissioner Woodson left his management position with the company to work with historically disadvantaged families and communities in central Alabama. In 2007, he became the Executive Director of Mission Birmingham, a faith based community development organization that sought to be a physical demonstration of God’s love to the community. After guiding Mission Birmingham into a successful venture with ADECA and HUD to help stabilize communities in Birmingham during the foreclosure crisis, Commissioner Woodson steered Mission Birmingham to play a significant role in Birmingham and throughout the state during the 2011 Alabama tornado outbreak disaster. Subsequently, Governor Robert Bentley appointed him to a Commissioner with the Alabama Service Commission. In 2011, Commissioner Woodson became Executive Director of Mission Birmingham Transformation Strategies in order to create strategic partnerships between the community of faith, corporate, government and our extensive community based networks.

Prior to MBTS, he served as: the Assistant Director of Young Business Leaders;   As the Chief Operating and Development Officer for Cornerstone Schools of Alabama; and over 20 years of leadership and community service experience providing strategic planning and organization, leadership and community development.  His community service has included the BBA’s Birmingham Blueprint Steering Committee, the Regional Mayors' Prayer Breakfast and Leadership Dinner, and Leadership Birmingham.  he has been active on the boards of various organizations that include Christian Service Missions (past-Chairman), The Coalition of African American Leadership (Chairman and Founder), Jefferson County Green Ways Commission, the Lord's Day Alliance of the United States, and the State of Alabama Land Bank Authority (Chairman).  He is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Community Fellowship Church and served on the Briarwood Presbyterian Ministry Leadership Team as part of the Marketplace Ministry initiative.  Frank Woodson is an alumnus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
