The Greater Birmingham Mayors' Prayer Breakfast
UPCOMING EVENTS: The Birmingham Region's National Day of Prayer Observance May 5, 2016
The Greater Birmingham Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast is a regional collaboration of more than thirty municipalities and sixty organizations held on the United States’ National Day of Prayer (The first Thursday of May). For the past fifty years Birmingham has served as the host city and its’ Mayor as the host Mayor.
In the spring of 1964 a group of Businessmen came together to sponsor the very first Birmingham Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast in support of Mayor Albert Boutwell and the new mayor council form of government. Fifty years later this now regional Breakfast held in support of all of our mayors and area leaders saw the largest most diverse gathering of corporate, government and faith leaders in our region. This gathering held on the United States National Day of Prayer featured Briarwood Presbyterian Church’s Senior Pastor, Dr. Harry Reeder. Dr. Reeder challenged leaders to celebrate the growth from the past 50 years and continue to press forward into the future in a collaborative spirit! We are currently in the prayer and planning stages for the 51st Greater Birmingham Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast which will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Please continue to prayer for all of our Mayors’ and regional leaders throughout the year.
